My pumpkin this year. I wasn't going to submit this to dA but then I saw the contest and thought hey, why not?
Unfortunately these are the best photos I can take with the camera I have, but I think it could have been worse so I'm not complaining.

This year for the first time I tried out the technique of carving at different depths to achieve different degrees of light, and it was fun! I don't have any professional tools or anything, so I used the blunt saw and scraper from a cheap carving kit, a spoon, a small kitchen knife, my wax knife, and a plastic pokey thingy.
This is pretty obviously no real species of deep-sea fish, it's just a decorative thing with big teeth and scales and woobly bits coming off it everywhere.

That fish looks evil and poisonous. I really like how it came out, it seems like it worked well for you to carve at different depths, it really makes the fish look like it is glowing.

The fact that a spoon was involved in the making of this is both flabbergasting and highly entertaining. Also for doing this the first time you did a fantastic job, especially on the scales and stuff.

Also. I LIKE HIS FACE. '3' It's got lots of lovely glowy bits in it.

Best of luuuuuck in the contest.

Thank you very much!
I read that you also used this technique for the first time as well, do you also find it as fun as I did? C:
